Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who just won Ukraine's version of "America's Got Talent." She uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and "sand painting" skills to interpret Germany's invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII.

So this young lady slided up and sat opposite me on a stone bench.
I glanced, and then threw a second look.
Imagine a dark brown version of this

and a dress a lil like this

Turned out to be leslie pussy in drag. Farney but chio ar!
I suggested calling my mom to say "Ma, Leslie pi4 char2 bor4 liao4!"
(hokkien: Leslie becomes a woman already!),
and then to kid her saying dat "Ma, Leslie chin1 eh3 kwa4 sark4 pi4 char2 bor4 liao4!"
(hokkien: Leslie really cut off and become a woman already!)
Then I laughed so hard, I laughed myself awake.
Sheesh.

I asked one of my friend and client John if he was free to attend my grandpa's wake and it turned out that his family was gona help out in my grandpa's wake. Gah, small world.
Anyway John joined Great Eastern for a while, saying that "he wanted to help people". I was like fwah. He left a year later though, saying it was kinda stressful working in that agency. I wish I am as noble. I cant say that I only want to help people because I do get a commission from what I do. However, I can safely say that I'm protecting families and making sure people save and invest. And in Tenny's words, that'd be a "mutually beneficial contract/agreement". Hehe.
============
Grandpa was in the hospital for 3+mth, and the bills come up to $200+k. The older generation would never understand abt the need for insurance coverage to cover the bills and loss of income. Some of my friends and clients asked me about insuring their parents, only to have it rejected by their parents. I mean in the end, their children gona end up forking out more from their own pocket mar? Lagi more jalad right?

Ah Kong was much respected in the neighbourhood as he was often seeked for advice. Knowing the protocols for both weddings and funerals, he helped out (for free. gah.) in these matters.
While he was hospitalised, he arranged his own funeral, indicating that he want much pomp and fanfare. And much pomp and fanfare there was.
Rites and rituals were observed. Food was catered for the guests. A band and a singer, and cheng-nor cheng-nor (ppl who did the clangs and drums hehe) and a elaborately decorated lorry for the coffin etcetc were there too.

This was a portion of the funeral where taoist priests did their rites&rituals, and where women in white robes chant/sang to the gods.
I didnt have time to take the pictures of the rest of the funeral nor did I know if it was appropriate lar.
Much of the neighbourhood turned up for the funeral and the funeral procession was a long walk around the neighbourhood with the band and cheng-nor cheng-nor leading the "dragon car" (the heavily decorated lorry).
Word of the day: much
miao.
============
Since I like to wear comical/cute headgear for kicks,
it was a lil amusing donning on the ceremonial robe and headgear (hokkien: ba-la-ju).
Andrew puppet said dat I should have worn that for halloween,
and I volunteered to buy one for him the next halloween.
============
I, for one, had no idea what to do during a funeral. I never really asked anyone to attend my dad's wake when I was much younger cos' I was young+ignorant mar.
Not that there was much difference now. Now I'm just old+ignorant. Kekeke. It was only until friday evening that I smsed friends to pop by my grandpa's on sat since the cremation's on sun. Thanks for popping by, paying respect to my grandpa, and keeping me company (else grandma'd be nagging me to do this or that, and to kneel when guests come. gah. I tucked my huge ego in the freezer, leaving it at home and was most accomodating. whatever makes grandma happy.)
============
Melvyn dysfunctional asked if I was close to my grandpa and I replied saying I'm closer to grandma. My grandparents doted me a lot but grandpa was the disciplinarian, and grandma was the one who shielded me from everything. Hehe.
============
Peijing, my pri sch mate whom I've not met for 8 yrs came over. Minghao, another pri sch mate came on sunday after the wake, when no one's around :P

It was crappy seeing my grandpa trying to live through another day/night in the hospital.
My grandma told me that documents were signed, and funeral arrangements were already being made.
He'd prolly go tomorrow.
Then my grandma went on to talk abt how fortunate my dad was, to pass on at a young age of 40+.
Heh, true that.

cummable D&D on multi-touch table
Students at Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) developed a Dungeons & Dragons experience for the Microsoft Surface multi-touch table. From ETC:
The objective of the SurfaceScapes project is to create a proof-of-concept for playing tabletop role-playing games on the Microsoft Surface Table. We will be using Dungeons and Dragons as a basis for our prototype, with the option for future expansion to other role-playing games. SurfaceScapes will provide Game Masters and players with a set of features to enhance the combat and role-playing aspects of tabletop games. This will include the ability to interact with the digital environment using real objects such as miniatures and provide automated calculations and visual and audio feedback for actions performed by the player and non-player characters. We are taking traditional tabletop role-playing games to the next level, adding a new layer of immersive and intuitive gaming to the Microsoft Surface Table and assisting both GMs and players in enjoying exciting and engaging adventures.
